AND GLASS COCKPIT SYSTEMS

Brought to you by
APG - Eastern Avionics International

Spend less time looking at charts and more time enjoying your flying!

Panel mounted moving maps are modern marvels of technology. Keeping your position in sight is exactly what moving maps do. Using data from most any GPS or LORAN, your position is put right in front of you on your instrument panel, right within your primary instrument scan. As you fly, the display flies with you, keeping your position centered in the middle of the screen. Moving map displays are designed to give the pilot a level of situational awareness that cannot be achieved with a standard cockpit instruments pack. Traditional instruments with pointers and dials define your location with respect to navigational aids, while a moving map shows you, explicitly, exactly where you are and what's ahead.

Most moving maps show airports, special use airspace, navaids and other ground references as well. With the advent of GPS, hundreds of pilots have been tagged by the FAA for violations of restricted airspace. It is just too easy to select your end waypoint, hit "direct" and fly straight through a hot military training area, Class B airspace, or worse. Moving maps give you the picture you need to fly safely and with confidence.

Today, you have several models to choose from that give you a myriad of options. Features include color displays, interfaces to storm avoidance equipment and other radios, and screen sizes to fit virtually any panel. The panel mount moving map is becoming one of the fastest growing equipment categories and for good reason -- they help you fly more accurately and safely. All of our models are less than 11 inches deep, and work on any voltage from 10 to 33 volts.

Call us for all the details on any of the units described here. At APG-Eastern Avionics, we are always at your service!

AT300pix600.jpg Aspen Avionics AT300 MFD
$2,995.00 $2,789.00 On Sale!

Compatible with virtually all panel mounted GPS navigation systems, the AT300 provides an easy upgrade to add color moving map technology to older GPS systems. The unit's high-resolution sunlight readable color LCD presents a large moving map display that shows both top-view and side-view terrain presentations, a full-time vertical speed display, a full time height above ground display, a GPS moving map display, and next waypoint textual navigation data.

The AT300 provides an intuitive display of surrounding terrain and obstacles by showing terrain topology and man-made obstacles in shades of red, yellow and green. Instantaneous height above ground is also displayed whenever the aircraft is below 20,000 ft AGL. The size and quality of the AT300 moving map area is equal to or better than most panel mount GPS navigators.

The Vertical Speed Indicator on the left edge of the AT300 display provides a graphical indication of aircraft vertical speeds to ±2000 feet per minute (FPM). A digital indicator supplements the graphical VSI display, providing a digital readout of vertical speeds up to a maximum value of 9900 FPM.

Installation Installation of the AT300 is simple. Even if you have no free instrument holes or empty room in your panel, you can still install the AT300! The unit uses the same mechanical mounting as a standard 3 VSI and includes VSI functionality, allowing it to easily replace that instrument. Simply mount the AT300 into the existing VSI instrument panel cutout and provide electrical power, GPS serial data, and static pressure from the VSI pneumatic connection, and the installation is complete.

The AT300 moving-map Hazard Awareness Display offers advanced digital signal processing, surface mount electronics, and high reliability LED backlights in an innovative, affordable, and compact design. Using an internal static pressure sensor, the AT300 directly measures barometric altitude and vertical speed. From this information, sophisticated software algorithms analyze the aircraft altitude and position to render a detailed terrain and obstacle map. Making extensive use of the same aerospace grade components found in far more expensive systems, the AT300 features application-specific embedded software in a custom-designed electronic package, allowing it to deliver the functionality and reliability expected of real avionics. Use of advanced technology allows the AT300 to adopt the compact 3 inch instrument format. This makes it easy to install, and also makes it easy to incorporate moving map navigation and terrain awareness information into your primary instrument scan, even under the most demanding of IFR conditions.

The AT300 offers almost all of the benefits of a modern electronic HSI display, without the associated costs or complexity. The AT300 puts a supplemental display of the active GPS course line, fly-to waypoint, next leg, groundspeed, distance, bearing and time to waypoint in your primary field of view. This capability provides instant situational awareness of potential hazards along the active and next navigation legs, and enhances pilot enroute navigational situation awareness. Pilot selectable zoom scales of 5nm, 10nm, 20nm, 40nm, 60nm, 80nm and 100nm let you see the big picture of what lies ahead, as well as the close-in details of nearby hazards.

The proverb that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" even holds true for FAA approved Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems (TAWS). These systems certainly provide excellent protection for high-performance aircraft, but that does not necessarily hold true for the smaller, performance-limited, piston-engine aircraft that most of us fly. Unless supplemented by a compatible display, the 30 to 60 seconds CFIT advance aural warning provided by a basic TAWS-B system may come too late for the pilot of a typical piston-engine aircraft whose terrain avoidance options may not include out climbing the terrain. The addition of an optional display to a TAWS system certainly increases pilot terrain awareness, but also increase TAWS acquisition price. As an effective alternative, the AT300 offers a simple, affordable, dedicated hazard awareness display that any pilot can use to improve their situational awareness at a fraction of the cost of competing MFD and TAWS systems.

Every AT300 features a full 2 year warranty from date of retail sale, or installation by an Aspen Authorized Dealer. Aspen will repair or replace any product, product component, or software that fails in normal use during the warranty period. Technical Features and Specifications Include: Installs in a standard 3" VSI or Altimeter instrument hole (requires cutout for control knob). - 15 Arc Second (1/4 mile) resolution full continental US terrain and obstacle coverage - High resolution, sunlight readable color AMLCD - High quality machined aluminum construction - Dimensions: 3.3" x 3.3" x 3.8" - Weight: 1.0 lbs - Power: 1.0 Amps at 12VDC or 0.5 Amps at 28 VDC - Operating Temperature Range: -20ºC to +55ºC - Storage Temperature Range: -55ºC to +80ºC Certification Basis: - TSO-C8d Vertical Velocity Instrument (Rate of Climb) - Category B - TSO-C113 Airborne Multipurpose Electronic Display

EASY TO USE!
The FlightMax EX500’s user interface dramatically improves your ability to access and display critical flight data. This design philosophy keeps operation simple and consistent by allowing you to select and display what you need on a single easy-to interpret integrated moving map. As a radar replacement, the FlightMax EX500 provides easy access to radar modes, tilt control, and bearing adjust. With the FlightMax EX500’s “map-centric” operation, you can display a moving map of your flightplan along with radar and datalink weather. And special-use airspace. And traffic. And terrain. And lightning. Without ever leaving the map page. It’s the only display that provides the complete picture and it’s the easiest to use.

The EX500/EX5000 is Avidyne’s third generation MFD platform, incorporating everything we have learned since developing general aviation’s first stand-alone retrofit MFD in the mid- 90s, the Flight Situation Display, and the industry’s first “full overlay-capable” MFD, the FlightMax 750-Series.

The EX500 fits in a standard 6.25-inch ‘mark-width’ radio stack. The 4-knob version of the EX500 is designed to replace existing CRT-based radar indicators for any of 19 different radar systems. A 2-knob version is also available for use in single-engine piston aircraft that do not carry an on-board weather radar. The extra knobs on the 4-knob system are dedicated to radar BRG and TILT control, making in much easier to operate than competing radar-capable displays. All other functions are identical between the two.

MOST RADAR INTERFACES:
EX500 radar interfaces include the Bendix/King® RDR2000/2100 and Bendix RDS8X-series digital radar systems, including Vertical Profile™ versions. In addition, the EX500 supports the unstabilized Bendix RDR130/150/160 systems and the fully-stabilized RDR1100/1200/1300 systems. If you are replacing a CRT that is monochromatic, the EX500 will convert it to color. Rounding out the list, the EX500 can also replace the CRT display of Rockwell-Collins® WXR250/270/300-series radars.

FUNCTIONALITY:

- CURVED PATHS -
When flying GPS approaches, the EX500’s large display clearly shows curved flight path segments when provided by the GPS, including DME arcs, Holding Patterns and Procedure Turns, overlaid with traffic, terrain, weather, airports and runway diagrams. And with Avidyne’s CMax™ Electronic Charts, the EX500 really takes the guess work out of shooting instrument approaches.
- ULTRA-BRIGHT, HIGH-RESOLUTION DISPLAY -
The EX500 features our industry-leading, high- resolution, active-matrix liquid-crystal display (AMLCD), providing you with the brightest, most versatile big-screen moving map available. With nearly three times as many pixels as previous-generation displays, and an incredibly wide viewing angle, the EX500 provides clear and concise navigation and weather information over an exceptional color-contoured terrain and water base map.
- TRIP PAGE -
EX500The EX500's versatile Trip Page provides information about your route of flight including a list of all remaining waypoints in the active flightplan, with distances and times for each leg. Graphical METARs for all reporting airports are also listed, which can help you in determining an alternate airport in the event of inclement weather or an emergency situation. Textual METARs are also available for each reporting airport. The EX500 translates the METAR abbreviations into plain English for easy interpretation.
- TERRAIN AND OBSTACLES -
EX500With its complete terrain and water base map, and a North American database containing towers and other obstacles greater than 200’ AGL, the EX500 provides a clear presentation of terrain hazards. Obstacles can be displayed with MSL altitude labels, and Avidyne’s exclusive terrain scale shows the altitude of the highest terrain and obstacle height in the displayed area. The “nearest obstacle” feature makes it easy to determine the height and proximity of nearby towers as you descend into any unfamiliar areas. The EX500 also interfaces with the popular EGPWS/TAWS sensors for added safety, making it the most versatile multi-function display available.
- TFRs -
Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) areas are updated via datalink to provide the most up-to-date information about your flight environment. Having the complete picture gives you the ability to avoid hazardous weather conditions and stay clear of restricted airspaces, saving you time and fuel.

eFLYBook.jpg Eflybook efb-1
$1,499.00
EFLYBOOK (EFB1-) The eFlyBook portable document viewer, developed specifically for general aviation pilots, is a small and lightweight electronic paper-based tablet that lets users read flight documents without unfolding large, cumbersome paper charts. The eFlyBook’s Electronic Paper Display (EPD) technology lets pilots read digital charts just like normal paper—regardless of the light conditions. Pilots can use an electronic stylus to write on the screen when making notations, copying weather information, or marking waypoints on charts. The result is just like writing on paper with a real pen or pencil. The stylus is also used on a pop-up keyboard so users can enter data to search for specific aeronautical documents. The small, yet powerful eFlyBook also includes a robust Windows-based desktop software application that replicates the functions on one’s personal computer (PC). It creates the look and feel of eFlyBook on the PC screen, including a drag-and-drop content manager. Pilots can use the eFlyBook to connect to the Internet via Ethernet or through a Wi-Fi network to download aeronautical content and other individual documents. Updates to FAA charts and other flight documents are stored on CDs and mailed to eFlyBook subscribers to expedite the update process. After loading the CDs onto their PCs, subscribers then transfer the documents over a USB cable to eFlyBook for later viewing.

$14,995.00
PRICING IS MSRP! CALL OUR SALES SPECIALISTS!

One of The Best Maps Available!

The FlightMax EX5000 is the most advanced, yet easy-to-use large-format MFD available for general aviation aircraft. All special-use and class airspaces are color-keyed for added clarity, and can be displayed at the same time as NEXRAD or weather radar data for a more complete picture. Full overlay capability allows you to add or remove traffic, lightning, and radar, with 180-degree forward view and 360-degree center view maps.

- TERRAIN -
With its complete terrain and water base map, the FlightMax EX5000 provides a clear presentation of terrain hazards. Avidyne’s exclusive terrain scale shows the altitude of the highest terrain in the displayed area. The FlightMax EX5000 also interfaces with the popular EGPWS/ TAWS sensors for added safety, making it the most versatile multifunction display available.

- EASY TO USE -
The FlightMax EX5000’s user interface dramatically improves your ability to access and display critical flight data. This design philosophy keeps operation simple and consistent by allowing you to select and display what you need on a single easy-to-interpret integrated moving map. The FlightMax EX5000 can also act as the on-board radar display, providing easy access to radar modes, tilt control, and bearing adjust.

With the FlightMax EX5000’s “map-centric” operation, you can display a moving map of your flight plan along with radar and datalink weather. And special-use airspace. And traffic. And terrain. And lightning. Without ever leaving the map page. It’s the only large-format display that provides the complete picture and it’s the easiest to use.

- CURVED PATHS -
The FlightMaxEX5000’s large display shows easy-to-see curved flight path segments such as DME arcs, holding patterns and procedure turns, overlaid with traffic, terrain, weather, airports and runway diagrams, taking the guess work out of shooting instrument approaches.
