The AAS is your "Electronic Co-Pilot" providing overspeed, stall and gear advisories with a new level of reliability and definition. The system can quickly pay for itself by tracking your aircrafts flight time vs. tach time saving you $100's per year in maintenance costs.
Flying today's high-performance singles and light twins often requires your full-time attention. That is where the P2 Audio Advisory System can help. It has been designed to be your "full-time electronic co-pilot" and is ideally suited for single-pilot operations in today's busy flying environment.
The system provides the pilot with AUDIO (it actually communicates with the pilot through the headset and/or speaker) and VISUAL (through an illuminated enunciator) advisories. It functions by continuously monitoring airspeed and other inputs and converts them into the appropriate message. This means that whether you are busy studying an instrument approach plate, looking outside, or just conversing with your passengers, the system is there working for you. The system is the ideal backup whether flying VFR or IFR.
The gear warning horn commonly found in most general aviation aircraft is usually mechanical and functions relative to throttle position. As the statistics clearly point out, that type of warning is often too late. According to an FAA Advisory Circular, over 30% of all landing accidents are still due to the fact that the landing gear was not extended. This type of accident can happen to anyone. It only takes a small distraction (especially if you fly single-pilot), and it's too late!
The Audio Advisory System on the other hand, works off of airspeed. When the plane is slowed down to a preset airspeed threshold, the system will actually inform the pilot whether the "GEAR IS DOWN FOR LANDING" or to "CHECK GEAR!". The airspeed threshold is set up to your make and model of aircraft and is adjustable, up and down, in 5 knot increments.
The AAS also maintains a watch over any excessive airspeed and will annunciate "OVERSPEED!" anytime the speed of the aircraft reaches Vne (red line). This is a handy feature especially when flying in IFR conditions and/or at night.
The model 6601 also has a stall warning feature as well. The system is basically a repeater as it takes the signal from your aircraft stall warning horn and translates it into a distinctive tone that can be heard through your audio system (headset and/or speaker). This feature is especially handy for pilots who wear the new noise-reduction (ANR) type headsets and for those aircraft that have "wimpy" stall warning horns.
In addition, the AAS provides an output for an optional airspeed activated Hobbs hour meter to keep track of flight (not tach) time. This translates into saving you money. Overhauls can be done based on "time in service", not tach time. Depending on how much taxi time you accumulate, this feature alone can pay for the system in a very short time.
It is also worth noting that our Audio Advisory System is the only device of it's kind on the market today that is fully FAA/PMA and STC approved! No time-consuming or difficult field approvals are required for installation.
We incorporate state-of-the-art solid state technology for years of reliability. Weighing in at only 14 ounces (the optional Hobbs hour meter adds 3 oz.), the system will have a negligible effect on your plane's useful load. Finally, we even back our system up with a 2-year warranty. That is as good as or better than any in the avionics industry.
