Selecting the best antenna for your radio and your airplane
can be confusing. Many pilots just buy the cheapest antenna they can find.
Most never know how much better their radio would have worked if they had
just spent that extra ten or twenty dollars on a better antenna.
It just doesn't make sense to spend $2,000 on a radio and
then try to save a few dollars on the antenna. There is no better way to
turn your best radio into your worst.
Whatever you have as your radio, do yourself a favor and buy
the best antenna you can find. Even if you have an older radio, you may even
discover that you can save yourself a costly upgrade simply by changing the
antenna. A good antenna, properly mounted and wired, can boost your clarity,
range, and output, making what you thought was a marginal radio or navigation
unit into a real keeper.

It has heavy-duty construction with 3/8" diameter aluminum radials, a 1" diameter aluminum tube radiator, and is iridite-treated for durability. When used with 26.5dB gain ComDat GPS antennas, the CI 511 GPS Attenuator allows operation of Garmin GPS systems that require 17dB gain.
The CI 511 reduces RF gain by 12dB. Built-in bias bypass circuit allows full supply voltage, provided by the GPS receiver, to pass directly to the active GPS antenna without DC voltage drops. Current supply is not reduced.
Should the Garmin GPS system later be upgraded to WAAS and 26.5dB gain, simply remove the CI 511 from the coax. The antenna will not have to be removed and replaced.SPECIFICATIONS:

The CI 2680-304 extends the lineage that began with the CI 2480 Series ComDat. This model features super tough construction for today's bigger and higher speed aircraft.
The antenna combines three separate functions into one. With two connectors on the base plate, GPS functions on TNC and BNC is used for combined VHF/Orbcomm. VHF/Orbcomm requires the Avidyne DC50 coupler allowing the VHF side to operate as Comm 2 or as Orbcomm TX/RX.
Installers will save time and money placing fewer antennas. Pilots will appreciate the reduction in the number of antennas on their aircraft and reduced drag resulting in fuel economy and higher speeds.
Built in harmonic suppression filter limits VHF/GPS co-site interference.

First of it's kind, the CI 2680-500 combines four separate antenna functions into one. Three different connections are on the base plate. TNC for GPS, SMA for popular satellite radio and/or weather data systems and BNC for combined VHF/Orbcomm.
