"The Power of Three"
We are frequently asked if it makes sense to buy a combination portable GPS/COMM when you can buy a separate handheld GPS along with a COMM portable for about the same price. In our opinion getting a seperate portable GPS and a seperate portable COM is the way to go. At this point manufacturers have abandoned the production of all portable GPS/COM. A noteworthy exception is the Garmin/Aircell NAVTALK Pilot which combines a cellular aviation telephone with a portable GPS; a good idea.
Having separate units allows you to mix manufacturers and get precisely the features you want in both your GPS and COMM radios. Buying two separate units can provide a degree of increased security -- all of your avionics eggs aren't in one basket. If you have an avionics failure, you won't lose both your Comm and your Nav at the same time!
Call us at Eastern Avionics and let us recommend the system right for you!

GARMIN/AIRCELL NAVTALK PILOT
The Garmin/AirCell NavTalk Pilot is among the latest and most interesting introductions by Garmin. It combines a sophisticated aviation GPS with an AirCellÆ aviation approved cell phone with ground capability. This is a universal communication and navigation system for use in your your cockpit, car, boat, or just about anywhere. A special mounting kit and external antenna allow the NavTalk Pilot to work through your audio panel while airborne and uses the same phone number for ground-based and airborne communication. The NavTalk GPS features are identical to those found on the GPS III Pilot, with a basemap that includes cities plus millions of miles of roads and highways. Incidentally the NavTalk Pilot is waterproof to handle the worst possible conditions.
HOT TIP!! The NavTalk pilot is becoming all the rage. Now you can legally converse and navigate wherever you are! There is no comprimise on either the GPS features or cellphone capability. This is the best bargain available in an AirCell system!
